  • Have enough equity in your property to cover the amount of money you would like to borrow

Applying for a Loan

To apply you will need to contact us for an application form. When you complete the application form you will need to tell us about your finances and provide evidence that you can’t get a loan from a bank, building society or other reputable lender. You should also tell us about the work that you need.

If you have difficulty completing the application form please let us know so we can help.

Assessment

We will visit you to check that the work is needed. We will then ask you to get estimates for the work required.

Once you have the estimates we will check these and that there is enough equity in your home to cover the amount of money you would like to lend.

When we are sure all the information is correct we will tell you if you application can be passed to our loan provider for processing or if it has been refused.

Processing your Loan

This is the legal part of the process and when your loan application will be processed.

To process the loan we will need to arrange a valuation of your property and carry out identification and credit checks. If you have a mortgage we will also need to get agreement from your lender before we can agree the loan.

Once your loan is approved we will register a restrictive charge on the property with HM Land Registry which will remain in place until the property is sold or you have paid off the loan.

Delivery

Once your loan is approved you can arrange to have the work carried out.

Once the work is complete Care and Repair Newcastle will visit you to inspect the standard of the work. We will pay the loan directly to the contractor so that you don’t need to worry about doing this.
